Raja Gidh by Bano Qudsia

Raja Gidh by Bano Qudsia

Raja Gidh by Bano Qudsia is one of the foremost widely read and acclaimed Urdu novels. God is that the Urdu word for a vulture and Raja Gidh may be a Hindi synonym for a king. The name anticipates the dominion of vultures. In fact, parallel to most plots of the novel, an allegorical story of such a kingdom is narrated. The metaphor of the vulture as an animal feeding totally on the carcasses of dead animals is used to portray the trespassing of ethical limits imposed by society or by faith.

The nostalgic narration of the historical Government College Lahore and of the Lawrence Garden Lahore lights upon the times of the seventies and eighties.
